I hope the big man in red brought you everything you wished for and more...

Stolen Snowman
Now if the snow has been getting people down, this woman from chatham should cheer you up no end.

Have a listen to the recording at the top of how the woman phones the police over her stolen snowman!
It's Classic!

Children In Need With The Geeks Plugathon
Just to let you know that GeeksToy.com are running a charity fundraiser for Children in Need.
Some excellent prizes up for grabs, including £250 cash and Betfair API subscription worth £2000.
In addition The Geek is running a charity plugathon, so if you're a sports / Betfair blogger / site owner and want to help raise money for good causes, check this out.
And finally, a new version of their top end trading product The Toy has been released this week. It contains some rather whizzy advanced charting & is well worth chechking out, especially in light of the recent announcement that it is to remain Free for at least 2011 as well!
GeeksToy - Probably the Best Betfair Trading Software in the world!

Websites, Blogs, Horse Racing, Games & Inception!
Running a little behind schedule with the new site, but hopefully should be up within the next few days.
All the rebranding is ready to be launched across the main site, blog and twitter.
As you'll see the name of the blog has changed to A Man That Blogs.
It's part of a bigger picture that will become clear pretty soon.
Would have posted sooner but been busy playing Pro Evo Soccer 2011 Become A Legend mode and the new Football Manager 2011, Just got the lowly Ebbsfleet promoted in my first season.
Looking at the new releases I'll be pretty busy coming up to christmas, Call of Duty: Black Ops is out tomorrow, and those that I've spoke to know that I'm a huge Call of Duty fan. Then there is Assassin's Creed: Brotherhood which looks to die for!
Also anybody that hasn't seen Inception yet, I must insist you do go and see it, OMG that film blew my mind!
Don't think I've had to focus soo much since The Matrix came out.

The new era..
I said changes were coming, and you'll start seeing them soon, starting with the overhaul of both this blog and my twitter which is @amanthatlays if anybody uses it.
Over the coming week the design of the blog will change to coincide with the new redesigned main website, twitter will also see the same graphical overhaul, leading up to the launch of the new site around the 10th November.
Currently the site is coming along fine, its mostly coding work thats needs to be done, the colour palette and design is virtually finished, time for all the back end stuff that will make it go like clockwork.
If anybody is familiar with vwar, you'll hopefully appreciate how I am modding it to record my results on the site, to be updated daily, instead of the monthly updated spreadsheet that could be downloaded. To get vwar working how I wanted it I've had to tinker with the coding and the admin side. but fingers crossed it should all go to plan!

Milan - Tottenham, what a game!
It needed a post!
I was down the gym on the treadmill watching Tottenham get demolished in the first half.
Yet Gareth Bale's hattrick was superb, though You'd think Milan would have picked him up a bit more after the first goal, seeing as they all come from virtually the same place!!

All the long nights..
All the long nights, all the spread sheets, all the race watching, the wait is nearly over, just finalising a few things and you'll see..
Yes I know I've not been around for a couple of weeks, but there is good reasons behind it which I will reveal very soon, I can't quite let the cat out of the bag just this second!
Though what I can say is I'm changing the way I run my tipster service, its been plodding along for months and months now, and its been more of a hobby, using my passion and my aquired knowledge to help others.
Though that will be changing over the next few weeks, and will be turned around more like a business, especially since going to uni fell through thanks to my tutor.
I now have the required hours in the day to put alot more into it than just hobby hours..
But don't worry I will come back to running this blog, but eventually it will be implemented into the bigger picture, along with getting my monthly subscriber newsletter back up and running and actually doing something with my twitter account, though that will need rebranding.
With my ongoing research from the 18 months I now believe I can consistantly produce profits from both backing and laying horses, and in the over/unders market for football, though football will come at a later date as I'm still collecting data and won't jump in head first to something I'm not 200% sure of.
AW racing is something that will come with more time as well, as I believe the AW is just glorified greyhound racing and it needs a different kind of horse analysis compared to anything over turf.
Also along side the changes I will actually try and write a proper blog, instead of what it has been...
no more literally just posting up times and names of horses, I'll try to actually write something engaging, and if anybody wants to bring a subject up for discussion then drop me a line and it can be discussed, argued, whatever, however...
Regards
Jay

Small Update
Well hehe is the update I promised, over the last 6 days I've been working on a system I created ages ago (and left on the shelf) and been tweaking since until I was happy I could pull a month from any year and it would produce profits.
I'm pretty sure it does that now, during the research I covered 18 months, between 2005 and 2010, no 2 months in a row. Just to make sure it wasn't something backfitted.
Over the last 18 months I've not found one losing month, with the mimimum profit being 30 points a month and the maximum being 120 points a month.
The last 6 days I've been running it myself using the GHB bot, as good as the bot is I still can't make it lay and place lay the same selection all the time due to there being no way of linking the 2 markets.
Even with this small problem the last 6 days have produced these figures:
Number of Bets: 63
Profit:
Lay: £259.60
Place: £142.20
Total: £401.80
Points Profit:
Lay: 25.96
Place: 14.22
Total: 40.18
Hitrates:
Lay: 76.19%
Place: 53.97%
Average Odds:
Lay: 3.60
Place: 1.74
Staked:
Lay: 286.19
Place: 105.83
ROI %
Lay: 9.07%
Place: 13.44%
Obviously back dated results don't mean it would work long term though the research is very promising as are the 6 days results which I'll continue to follow and record.

30 second decision
I haven't posted in a few days, not due to the lack of selections, quite the opposite, just having to find a work around for them as they are left to the last 30 seconds pre-race.
I could probably stick up a few in the morning based on odds, though the final selection depends on whether the horse is favourite and meets criteria, currently I'm trying automate it with GHB, already shortened the timing that it scans the markets. Before I had it set on 2 minutes, but if there was two close favourites and they managed to switch places in that 2 minutes then they'd both get layed, though dropping it to 30 secs seems to have fixed it somewhat.
I'll be back in a few days with another update, or back tomorrow with some selections if I can sort them out.

Time for a clear out.
Been noticing ever more these days the lack of people who post on their blogs from my blogroll, time to clear out the old and add some new interesting reads I think, I'll see what I can find later...

Another football bet..
Couldn't find much of interest in the horses today.
So just a football bet for today.
MK Dons vs Southampton over 2.5 goals @ 2
Though I'm gonna wait until later to see if I can improve on those odds.

Just a couple of football bets today.
Sheffield United vs Scunthorpe - over 2.5 goals @ 2.18
Crystal Palace vs Portsmouth - over 2.5 goals @ 2.3
Edit:
Both winning bets with Scunthorpe making it 3-0 on the 73rd minute,
and Crystal Palace going 2-1 up on the 55th minute, 3-1 up on the 59th minute as I was typing this.
The easiest £23 pound I've made today!

Who saw this race!?
Something I've not seen before, the 3 long shots finishing 1-2-3.
1st. Crianza @ 1000
2nd. Clare Harrier @ 800
3rd. Verluga @ 166
And even 4th placed was a BSP of 30.
Shocking, and great for anyone who had win or E/W bets on any of the first 3.

England - Shocking!
After another poor display by england it makes me & I'm sure others wonder why do we bother!?
On another note the last 2 days have been great for laying amassing £119 profit.
Or 11.9 points as I usually label it.

Catterick 2:15
I'll be laying Chocolate Caramel @ 1.9.
My own ratings give me Mister Fizzbomb and McEldowney as horses with more chance.
So small eachway bets on them.
Edit:
Lay verinco @ 3.25 in the 3:00 Catterick, with seemingly everything against, and I make it that the horse should have much higher odds.

Caprio
I'll be laying Newbury Street @ 4.3 in th2 2:40 Hamilton.
While he has all the necessary form my own ratings show him 5 points behind Caprio.
Though Newbury doesnt have DSLR or Weight in favour, where as Caprio ticks all the boxes.
From the 5 horses Caprio is the only one who ticks all the boxes, and I think at 2.4 is well worth a punt.
My Ratings for the race were as followed:
Win
Caprio - 40.39
Newbury Street - 35.08
Cawdor - 19.05
Clear Ice - 8.11
Star Addition - 0.00
Place
Caprio - 73.28
Newbury Street - 52.81
Cawdor - 45.00
Clear Ice - 38.48
Star Addition - 25.82

I'll be laying Souter Point @ 1.95 in the 2:30 Newton Abbot.
I've got him down at 54.11 for a place, but only 11.61 for the win, on that note I will gladly take the lay.
Here we have a horse, who has not run for nearly 7 weeks, and has never run the distance or won over a similiar distance, closest was a 2nd place over 2m 110y, coming in 5 lengths behind the winner.
Jay
While he has all the necessary form my own ratings show him 5 points behind Caprio.
Though Newbury doesnt have DSLR or Weight in favour, where as Caprio ticks all the boxes.
From the 5 horses Caprio is the only one who ticks all the boxes, and I think at 2.4 is well worth a punt.
My Ratings for the race were as followed:
Win
Caprio - 40.39
Newbury Street - 35.08
Cawdor - 19.05
Clear Ice - 8.11
Star Addition - 0.00
Place
Caprio - 73.28
Newbury Street - 52.81
Cawdor - 45.00
Clear Ice - 38.48
Star Addition - 25.82

Just one so far.
I'll be opposing Red Gulch @ 3.75 in the 3:15 Leicester.
I believe there is higher calibre horses with better claims than Red Gulch.
Edit:
Going to lay Comedy Act @1.85 in the 3:45 Leicester too.
I think he is destined for further, and that Buona Sarah might just pip him here.
Artic Rose @ 2.8 in the 6:15 Yarmouth.
Edit: It was actually King of Cassis @ 2.8, though they both lost!
Grand Slam Hero @ 3.45 in the 8:35 Ffos Las.

Judiciary
Judiciary was one of my horses on my watch list to oppose under certain conditions if the odds were right.
I had a brief look at the odds before I rushed out this morning, was trading around 4.6
Def worth a lay, and still one to oppose if the conditions are right.

Leaving it late
Well yesterday I realised I left out the time and track, it was the 20:10 @ Cartmel, where Thumbs Up actually won by 3/4 length to Mutual Friend.
Today I've gone with Lutine Bell @ 3.3 in the 17:50 Newmarket.
Having run 4 times, 3 times over 7f, all unplaced.
Once over 6f, finished 3rd over GF ground.

Just the one
Today's been an odd day with the weather, with the going softening throughout the day.
I've gone for Thumbs Up, Lay at @ 2.66
It was a tough call between Thumbs Up & Mutual Friend, though with Thumbs Up, only performed over soft ground, and I don't believe the ground has let up that much.

22nd May - Temple Stakes
Not such a good afternoon yesterday with 1 winner, though I managed to pull a profit in the evening.
Today I thought I'd look at something a tad different on the side.
Most people know about the 2 million scoop6 this weekend, having rolled over.
I've decided to take a closer look at the Temples Stakes (15:00 Haydock)
Firstly I analyzed the race my own way, that gave me Borderlescott as my selection.
Though I thought I'd have a look at the trends from previous races and see what it came up with.
Findings:
11/13 won with no headgear
11/13 won with no headgear LTO
10/13 finished 4th or higher LTO
9/13 finished 3rd of higher LTO
11/13 won in Class 1 or 2 LTO
12/13 won with between 126 - 130 pounds
12/13 winners have been from GB or IRE
11/13 winners last run was within 30 days
13/13 winners has no carried penalty
12/13 have been between 3 - 7 years old
After taking all that info into account it gave me Blue Jack.
So after all that I'll be backing Borderlescott @ 5, and Blue Jack @ 7.
Regards
Jay

12th May
A tad tired, so I've only brushed over each race briefly, managed to pull out a horse or two in near enough every race, and managed a couple of favorites to lay.
I've tried to analyze each race as well as possible, though obviously I haven't taken as much time with each meet as I did yesterday with Yarmouth, which produced 3 winners and 2 close 2nds.

Backing a Longshot
How hard do people find it to back the winner, let alone a longshot, odds on horses don't count!
Over the past few days I've been thinking this, how often do longshot winners come around and how do we go about spotting them, I know I managed to place one at 20-1 the other day, finished 3rd, odds to win were 150-1.
20-1 shots give you the impression they would win once in 20 races, or you would win 1 in 20, but surely there is a way to spot these horses before they drift in, before the market starts chucking money at them.
Afterall, the odds compilers are good, but they don't get everything correct.
Which lead me onto another thought, the ultimate trophy for any punter is to get banned or have your account closed at the bookies, a good old bit of bookie bashing.
Now that I've finished college I'm going to focus a lil bit more on backing, I'll start off on Betfair, but will move onto the bookies and see how long it takes to get an account closed, this may come down to quite a bit trial an error to start with, where as I've always layed horses, surely if I can find the least likely to win then I can find the least likely to lose too...no?
I'm planning to study the form for tomorrow's races and I'll place them on my blog tonight or tomorrow morning and at what odds I've backed them, and like I said in my previous post I will try give my reasoning behind each one.
And we'll see where I end up.

JP's Blog - :-(
Hello people,
For a long time I've followed Jp's Blog with interest, as he gives a great insight into the ups & downs of making it as a punter and how tipsters/services work.
It's a shame he has hit this poor run and given up the blog for now, though me like many others, hope he comes back fighting after a "quick" reassessment of where to head next.
Like he has proved other the last year, it is possible to make a living from it, though I always believe why pay all that money otu if you have the time to do it yourself?
Maybe JP doesn't have the time and he goes on the say so of his tipsters, but if somebody has a general knowledge of racing then all the information you need is on the net, just need to know where to look.
On another note, I've always done laying, spent months trying to tweak a maths formula until I had that eureaka moment! though now I have a bit more free time and would like to try my hand at backing horses.
Like i said the info is on the net, but unlike the last few days, I'm not just gonna put up the ones I've gone for, I will actually give my findings and reasoning behind each selection.
Look at something a bit more indepth than just a name, possible look at trainer trends, jockeys stats etc.
I'm came across a horse the other day, had all the form over distance/going, but I didn't back him, and he duly came 9th.
This horse was Elkhorn, def one to back if he come up at Redcar.
Form at Redcar, over 5/6f, Good or Good-to-Firm going, Class E or lower.
Form reads: 11152263
Form at any other course doesn't come nowhere near!
Regards
Jay

19:50 & 20:50 Hamilton
Was a tad dissapointed Otto turned out not to run yesterday, he looked rather promising.
Today I've gone for Wind Shuffle in the 19:50 at Hamilton.
He has all the form over current CD, Silver Rime looked like a possible contender but being a NR soon sorted that out!
And I'm also going for Guest Connections in the 20:50, winning 3 times from 5, one of them wins coming from a class up, he came 8th in a race 2 classes higher, but only finished just under 4f off the winner.
Backed Wind Shuffle @ 9.0
and Guest Connections @ 9.6

Afternoon
Hello People, I've been a bit scarce last week or 2 due to my final weeks at college!
Though I will update everything soon.
Been working on a backing system as well in my spare time, though details are still very brief and written down on scraps of paper as I try to work different bits out!
Though it has pulled up 2 selections for today which I'll keep an eye on later.
Both at Cheltenham.
17:35 Farmer Frank
18:45 William Somers
And yes the system is only going to be focused on Favourites.
EDIT: Well Seems I misjudged that one, though Barron Watlass did Place at 3.0
And a quick analyzing of the 14:35 at Kelso lead me to Barron Watlass, I myself can't see Beidh Tine Anseo winning it.
Chester 14:45. Mamlock for the Win, Tastahil for a Place
Well that one was much better, Mamlock & Tastahil photofinish!
Luckily Mamlock won @ 9.1 and Tastahil placed at 6.4.
Now I'm focusing on a couple of accumulators at Huntingdon & Cheltenham.
Will put selections in a new post.
Regards
Jay

2010 P/L So far - 397.27 pts profit.
Hello Guys.
After seeing a lot of people record dreadful aprils and a not much better start of the year, It got me thinking about my own results, had a look through my own spreadsheets and worked out my own P/L based on service/month.
Here's what I found.
As most people who have passed through my blog or follow it know, I generally only Lay horses.
With the exception of the Jay's Select Place. That is backing exactly same selections from my Jay's Select to place.
And the Power Of 3 is a stand alone system I'm working on myself for people who prefer to feel they have more of a say it what horses to lay.

Day 8, 9, 10 & 11 - Write Up
Day 8, 9, 10 & 11 - Write Up
Test 1 has been appalling, considering it comes as a highly regarded system by multiple sources, the 25 pts loss it incurred was over a 2 day period. Based on the fact it's a laying system with not many daily selections It's going to take awhile to get the profits back up all going well and not hitting another winner.
Test 2 is something I'm working on and is still being tweaked, so I will keep it up.

From the 3 services I run, The Under 10's has hit a stale patch, it's neither making profit not losing points atm.
The Over 10's went through a similiar stale period a few weeks back but has come out unscathed and is back on the up.
Jay's Select has been the best performer so far especially after I finished my research into my own selections.
From Laying the selections as originally intended it has produced 100.8 pts profit since Jan 6th, with an 83.31% Hitrate and a 6.15% ROI.
Now heres the interesting part, for awhile now I've been placing the same selections from the Jay's Select and that shows an amazing 154.89 pts profit since Jan 6th, with an 48.85% Hitrate and an 18.22% ROI.
Giving me a very nice 255.69 pts profit alone from my Jay's Select service.
The P/L from placing them selections isn't on the website yet as I've only just finished backdating all my previous selections.

I'm back!
Hello Everybody,
As you all know I've been away without a peep!
Though I've spoken to a few of you on msn.
I Have been really busy with the running of amanthatlays.com, along with college work and trying to put my portfolio together for job interview.
Not to forget I've fried my graphics cards and am posting from a laptop!
----------------
Though back to the point, when I first started this blog I used to post my selections up for you all to following, and it has come to that time again, I've been hard at work researching again! and have just entered the live testing phase of my new selections.
I will post these up nightly with a write up and running total like before.
Regards
Jay
